Prayer

praying dollAt the heart of all successful (meaning growing disciples) youth ministries, is a foundation of heartfelt, passionate prayer. Jesus said:Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matt 7:7) And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”(Matt 21:22). In the business of life, prayer can be the easiest thing to drop. It’s amazing when you think about it, especially in line with these words from the mouth of Jesus! Yet we do, and so we must be reminded regularly to put prayer back on the top of the pile of importance for all areas of our youth ministry.

Prayer helps us to spend time refocusing and allows space for God to speak to us through our prayer to help us to realise what’s of most importance. Think through how your ministry is founded on prayer and what you could do to include prayer not only for the leaders, but for your young people too, as you model all aspects of your Christian lives with them.

Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
