Materials: Chairs (half the number of chairs as their are players), stop watch

Set up the game area with chairs running down the middle of the hall facing alternate directions and spaced so there is a 1 chair gap, between each chair.

Split into two teams, one start as cats, sitting on chairs with one cat who is up starting by standing, touching the wall at one end of the line.  The cats job is to catch the mice by tagging them, in the shortest time possible, however once the mouse who is ‘up’ is tagged, the cat must return to the starting position and touch the wall, before chasing after the next mouse (relay style).  The other team as mice, must try and stay in the longest, by one at a time, running away from the cats.  Mice start in a line down the opposite end of the playing area to the cat who is up and once a mouse is tagged, the next mouse in line is up.  Mice can run through the gaps in the line, cats can’t, but they can pass being up to another cat, by tagging them, which means they leave their seat and chase the mice and are replaced by the previous cat.  Once all mice are caught, the timer stops and teams swap over.  Winning team is that which stayed up as mice the longest.
