Extreme Musical Chairs

Group Game, unlimited numbers (although need leaders to make safe)

This one has become a staple for our youth ministry, it’s a little dangerous and requires leaders to be active in catching any youth who could fall and we’ve lost a chair or two, but it’s a real winner as far as young people go.

Take the normal game of Musical Chairs… a room, chairs in the middle, music plays and when it stops, everyone runs for a chair, then to make it extreem, you just take out the rule about one person per chair.  We make it so that when the music stops, you have to touch the wall around the room, then run in, which saves people from hovering over seats.  When movement has stopped, anyone touching the ground is out.  For a while we put mats down, but found it better to have leaders around as catchers and to make sure no one is pushing in the mele.  Take chairs away each round until only one chair remains… our record is 6 people on one chair.
